Transport History

Car

The first Australian petrol-driven car was built in 1897 by Harry Tarrant, and it was called the Tarrant. This car didn't have a roof! The first car to be fully enclosed wasn't built until 1901. Before this time, most cars had been built in either Europe or America and had been shipped across.
So before cars were invented, the most common form of transport was a horse and carriage.
The first car invented anywhere in the world was in the year of 1769 by a French man named Nicolas Joseph Cugnot.

Aeroplanes

Since the time of Iccarus humans have dreamed of taking to the skies in flight! Today people are constantly soaring through the air, traveling around the world in hours! Have you ever thought how we got from a dream to today's reality?

The first form of aeroplane that was invented was a glider and it was invented in the USA. It was invented in the late 1800's and it was non-motorized and didn't have a pilot or any passengers! In 1903, the Wright Brothers were the first people to successfully fly a plane with a person in it.
